Minakari

The Art of Minakari originated form the heart of Persia, Isfahan, around 2000 years ago. The diligence hidden inside this art has been appreciated by many people during histories. The word Mina in Persian means heaven and refers to the azures color of heaven.

Minakari or Enameling is the art of painting and coloring the surface of metals by fusing over it brilliant colors. A single Mina passes through may steps to reach its beauty and nobility. Mina is crafted on metals such as copper or silver, painted and designed depending on taste of its artist and finally outlined by the engraver. Enameller is then brushing on the engraved design with special magic colors of red, blue, green and white.

The miniatures patterns used in Minakari are particularly traditional designs done precisely by a very fine pen on a colored heated background. The final calligraphy is done on the Mina before putting the work in a furnace for stabilizing the colors.
